Committed relationships are the worst and the best thing that can happen to you
How nice it is to be single.
All the time and focus in the world are dedicated exclusively to yourself. You wake up when and how you want, you eat only what you like, you go out for a drink with friends and dance till midnight. You are an inspired, confident maverick, hustling through your business goals, and crushing challenges. You are single. Self-sustainable. Your life is efficient.
Or it’s just comfortable?
Sometimes you feel lonely, but that can be easily solved with a couple of “swipe-rights”. The soul-connection partly fulfilled by cuddle-puddle or meditation circle. Moment of sadness escaped with a funny video from a TikTok that just became viral. Silence replete with music from Alexa. Family time with your Mom on FaceTime once a week.
You are golden. You can travel whenever you want to. Today you are in LA, tomorrow you fly to Bali. There is nobody to negotiate your plans with, there is nobody to be responsible for.
Then you get into a relationship.
You meet this beautiful person you fall in love with. He or she seems perfect for you. Smart, with a great sense of humor. Nice smile and a funky laugh. Ambitious like you. Now you are together against the world. You decide to commit to this relationship, even though the single life was so good.
