Life Outside the Box — Why you should always look for the Blueprint

About one year ago my husband Johnny Kartakov my best friend Vitalii Rykovanov and I left Ukraine for uncertainty and downshifting adventure of life in India.

November 22nd we’ve marked as a System Logout Day and decided to celebrate it every year. Our lives and minds changed completely after four month of living in the south of inscrutable India.

Now we are in San Francisco — one of the toughest economical, technological and startup-driven systems in the world, which breaks and burns everyone who is not living by its’ rules. We used to think that living in this ecosystem was the only way to be if you are an entrepreneur, but we soon realized that there is another way. We discovered what life outside “the system” could be like.

So what did we learn and what can you discover about life outside “the system?”

Life does not end, after quitting

Believe it or not, but you CAN just live your life and enjoy it — relax and watch every sunset, enjoy delicious food, the company of your closest friends, and feel the warmth of the hand of your beloved.

It’s not always necessary to run for imaginary unattainable happiness, that isn’t always imagined by you.

Stress is number one reason of almost every physical disease

I’m not talking about science this time, only personal experience. I’ve been burned out after 2.5 years of building my tech company, it caused me so many health problems so I was shocked how that can happen to a person who is 24 and who used to live quite healthy lifestyle. So I started to think not only about my body but also about my mind as an extremely important part of my organism.

After spending only first month in India I’ve jumped into conclusion– if you remove yourself from stressful environment you’ll see how remarkably quickly your body will heal itself.

Amazing outsiders

There are so many incredible people who don’t care about technology or venture capital. They are not building their startups. When they hear word “unicorn”, they imagine this:

and not billion of dollars

But they are amazing! They know how to listen and live with an open heart.

And the last but probably the most important one.

One thing you can only discover outside of “the system” — is its’ blueprint.

And I’d ask you to stop and take a moment to think about it.

If we were not brave enough to make this crazy leap one year ago, we would never feel — really feel what we want in our lives. To make a conscious choice of building a technology company inside “the system,” with the understanding of how it works and how to make the best of it.

Furthermore, this knowledge we’ve gained through our travels in “underdeveloped and wild” India, we were able to use as the foundation for our current company, Aware.

So try to step out of “the system” sometime. It’s unforgettable.
